Type the remaining chapter titles and their page numbers as you did with the first chapter to complete the manually created table of contents. Type the name of the first chapter as it should appear in the table of contents, such as “Introduction.” Type over the “1” that appears to the right of the chapter title with the page number on which your first chapter begins. Click the “Insert” command if you want to create a customized automatic style instead of the manual style.Ĭlick anywhere in the first instance of text marked “Type chapter title” if you chose the manual table of contents style.
